Description

This is a second try at capturing an image out of my sketch book (the first failed miserably). I've been seeing a lot of Wicca imagery/documentation/rumor lately, and I thought I'd put my spin on it. This is a reference to "the burning times" back Europe when witches were burned at the stake or hung for their faith. The faces in the corner are reminiscent of "Lost" and there is one watcher spirit as a guardian. Lithograph/Intaglio (spit bite, dry point, a la poupee).

UPDATE/CLARIFICATION: The "Burning Times" I'm referencing here are the ones you hear about in story books. This is not a history lesson, but the real deal was a lot less sensational than most people realize.

You know, not getting down on you or anyone else by this comment, but I want to make a little correction to what you said in your description. Now, I am a wiccan as well, and I would never say anything bad about it. That having been said, I really get kind of annoyed when people talk about "the burning times". Very few actual witches were burned during that time. The majority of the people who were killed or tortured, were put through it because somebody didn't like them and decided to cry witch instead of killing the person themself. It was much like accusing someone of being a communist in the 1950's and 1960's, or like accusing someone of being "un-American" (whatever the hell that means) or a terrorist now. I've studied this subject quite extensively, and for many years on my own. As a matter of fact, one of the most famous incidents during these "burning times" was the Salem witch trials. It didn't happen in Europe, but it happened during the same time period. Not a single person hung at Salem was a witch, it was just a bunch of girls who got in trouble and got out of it by crying "witch". All that aside, it is a very impressive piece, and you are quite a talented artist. +fav
